It was tears and hugs Monday July 10 at the Trinity Methodist Church on Ballard Road in Wilton. Three young ladies had achieved the highest award in Girl Scouting - the Gold Award.
Perhaps, not as well known as the Boy Scouts Eagle Award the Girl Scouts Gold recognizes the same high level of distinction and achievement.
Wilton Town Council member, Lou Yellen, Assemblyman Bobby D'Andrea and Saratoga Springs Mayor, Ken Klotz, were present to personallysalute and to thank the young ladies for their community efforts.
Three American flags which had flown over our Nations's Capitol were presented to the scouts by Congressman John Sweeney. His letter as well as letters from Senators Moynihan and Schumer and a letter from President Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton were read.
Marci and Stacy had for their Gold project organized an International Friendship Day for Brownies and Girl Scouts. Alyssa develop materials and a course for Fourth and Fifth Graders on bicycle safety.
The Scouts are members of Troop 575 which is based at the Trinity Methodist Church on Ballard Road in Wilton. Although the Troop is based atthe Church, girls of all faiths are encouraged to join. For information call 792-0947.
Stacy, Alyssa and Marci will be attending college this fall and we wish them all success in this new endeavor.
