The Strawberry Festival at the Wilton Heritage Museum marks the end ofspring and the beginning of summer in Wilton. It also means the Museumis open every weekend for visitors. The Festival features old-fashion made-from-scratch biscuits, fresh whipped cream (none of that cream from a can), fresh strawberries picked in Wilton and good coffee or iced cold lemonade. Just what everyone in the family loves. And the family can check out the exhibits and displays and Wilton's former Post Officew lent by Charlie Van Rensselaer (his father was the Post Master). The Post Office is wood and brass and they do not make postoffices like this anymore. Behind the Museum is the Annex which features a tribute to the agricultural heritage of Wilton. The Museum was originally built as a Methodist Church in 1871. The Heritage Society will celebrate the 130th Anniversary of the Church this summer. Will have the date in our next Report. If you haven't visited the Museum, drop in any weekend this summer. Make it part of your visit to Grant's Cottage, just up the Road on Mt McGregor from the Museum. |
