Target: April 1998 TARGET ON THE MOVE AND WE SAY - RIGHT ON!!! Target is coming to Wilton with a distribution center on Ballard Road across from Ace Hardware

Main Growth in Wilton     Target       Target:04/98       Target:07/99       Target:04/00       Target:09/00		It is go. . . go. . . go. . . for Target and their Distribution Center in Wilton and we say Right on!     The Target Distribution Center represents an investment of about $80 million in Wilton upon its completion in 2,000. And that is good news for Wilton and Saratoga County.     Target has made a policy of using local contractors whenever possible and will continue this policy in Wilton.     Target does request local contracors, suppliers, people seeking employment to contact the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) which will be handling applications for Target.     SEDC's phone number is 587-0945. The Office is at 28 Clinton Street Saratoga Springs next to the Chamber of Commerce.     Target closed on the North Road/ Ballard Road site in early November and Target is not wasting one second in site preparation. As part of the Dayton Corporation with headquarters in Minneapolis, Target is familiar with cold winter weather.     The push is to get footings in before winter really hits. And seeing the convoys of trucks moving on Ballard Road I'll bet on Target reaching their objective.     The big ditch work we wrote about last month is virtually completed and that means the Wilton Water & Sewer Authority will be able to cross Ballard Road to the Target site next spring.     Surprisingly, despite the 1,100,000 square feet of the Target facility (that's about 40% larger than the Ace Distribution center down the road) the facility will require a water and sewer capacity of about that of a 40 home residential development.     Also scheduled for next spring will be the reopening of the new and improved North Road, the repaving of Ballard Road and the planned instillation of a traffic light at Ballard and North Road.     As the facility nears completion (targetted for spring 2,000) the SEDC, the New York State Labor Department and the Town of Wilton will again host job fairs as they did with Ace Hardware. Estimates are that three to four hundred employees will be hired for Target.     And that is good economic news for our area.
