TWO SHORT YEARS PROVE THE NORTHEAST LOVES TARGET
EXPANSION AT DISTRIBUTION CENTER TO INCREASE SIZE BY ONE-THIRD
That is a compliment to Target. It says the Northeast welcomes Target and agrees Expect More. Pay Less says it all. But the more customers flock to Target stores the greater the demand on the Distribution Center to process and move merchandise.Cary Parno, general manager of the Center, says that the success of the stores has had the Distribution Center working at capacity.
He compliments his team at the Center for their dedication and commitment but with an additional 25 to 30 stores expected to join the 72 already serviced by Center, he says the additional storage space will be needed.
With 314,209 square feet that will give the Center a total of 1,501,586 sq ft. The Center presently has a team of about 800 team members. With completion of the addition by September additional team members will probably be needed.
Target emphasizes the team concept at the Center. Parno says that the success of the Center meeting the peak demands of the past holiday season reflects individuals working together and supporting each other in their endeavors.
With 800 team members Parno says, "I'm not good at names but I know everyone here and something about them." Parno also says that communication and open lines are vital. "I try to be present at the change of shifts and I'm there so people can talk with me."
